Carlsberg Diamond Idol 2011

WITH the much anticipated first ever "Carlsberg Diamond Idol 2011" slated to commence on the 3rd August 2011, singer, songwriter, actor and TV host, Vic Teo, one of the main judges for the contest, visited Sabah for a publicity drive and to link up with local media for the event. It marks the beginning of the "bond" between the media friends and potential local artistes who Carlsberg Diamond Idol 2011 hopes to discover.

"Carlsberg Diamond Idol 2011" is the first ever Karaoke Contest of its kind in East Malaysia that is organized and sponsored by Carlsberg Malaysia with Sagajuta Creatives and Communications as the main event organiser. Carlsberg Diamond Idol’s main aim is to uncover potential singing talent in Borneo (Sabah & Sarawak). The audition rounds and finals are held on a more personal and intimate surroundings of local pubs and karaoke lounges where people are less intimidated and are at home to belt out their repertoire.
This inaugural event will kick off on 3rd August at Kota Kinabalu before proceeding to the following cities: Kuching, Miri, Bintulu, Sandakan and Tawau.

The Grand Finale will be on 3rd September 2011 (9-11pm) at IceBar, 1Borneo, Kota Kinabalu.

Vic Teo, a singer-songwriter turn actor as well as music producer, who is also the 2nd Runner Up on Malaysian Idol Season 1 said, "I’ve noticed that there are talented singers in East Malaysia who didn't have the chance to showcase their talents, this will be a good chance for them to actually show off their talents now." Vick Teo will be the main judge for the Karaoke Contest at Bintulu and Miri, where he will also perform so that he will not disappoint his fans.

The contest is open to all non-Muslim residents of Malaysia, aged 18 to 35. Contestants can call the hotlines, 010 944 8202 (Sabah) / 010 944 8186 (Sarawak), for further information and enquiry of the competition. Only 12 finalists (Champion and 1st Runner Up of each preliminary round) will be selected to compete at the Grand Finale. The Grand Finale champion will stand a chance to walk away with cash prize of RM8000 and trophy, sponsored by Carlsberg Malaysia.
